IMPORTANT NOTE: The Retro Learning pack was originally release as a special subset of games for children to have something to do at home at the beginning of the pandemic. The games that made up this pack were a subset of games found in two of our existing collections. eXoDOS & eXoWin3x. This pack is no longer available as a stand alone project. Rather, if you download and merge the previously mentioned projects, you will find a playlist of the RLP games has appeared which lists the exact games that were previously found in this collection. Merging is fairly simple, however the FAQ and my youtube channel have explicit details on how to do this. Thanks! This pack of software includes 667 educational software titles from MS-DOS & Windows 3.1. This includes classics such as The Oregon Trail (regular and multimedia versions), the Carmen Sandiego series, Math Blaster, Reader Rabbit, Jumpstart, the MS Home Reference series and hundreds of lesser known titles. The titles are emulated through DOSBox and require no first hand knowledge on the user's part to get them running. The front end, LaunchBOX, includes cover art, screen shots, descriptions, and metadata to help you and your child find titles of interest. While these titles have been a part of my larger projects, which focus on preserving all games from MS-DOS and Windows 3.X, I felt a focused release at this time made sense for the number of children stuck at home right now. All the fun of the full Retro Learning Pack
in only a 2gb download! The 2gb download includes the front end,
metadata, and configuration files for all of the games. The first time
you attempt to run a game it will tell you the total size of it and ask
you if you would like to download it. It will then selectively grab the
file you need with a handy dandy status bar to let you know the
estimated time. Once it finishes downloading the game will be setup and
ready to run. |
